    There are more than 100 cultural minority groups in the Philippines, and around half of these have unique linguistic cultures. The most well known are the Ifugao, and their culture is alive and well around the rice terraces of Banaue.

    Most of the Philippine islands feature volcanic mountains, several of which have been increasingly active since the 1980s. The most accessible are Mount Pinatubo which last erupted in 1991 and Taal volcano one crater of which erupted in 1977.

Accommodation in The Philippines: Pulchra

Located 43 kilometres south of Cebu airport, Pulchra has 15 comfortable pool lagoon suites and seven luxurious garden pool villas. The resort also has a good spa.

Rooms

Pulchra boasts a variety of rooms from the lagoon suites to the exclusive jacuzzi villas. Each room is equipped with luxury amenities, highlighted in a native concept blended with modern offerings. Each offers a balcony facing the gardens or pool from where one can relax and soak up the peaceful environment.

A sitting area, tea and coffee facilities, a minibar, CD player and aromatherapy incense are all provided to enhance the mood. The beds are laced in mosquito nets to give a four poster or luxury tent effect and the bath and shower rooms are exquisite.

Lagoon Suite

Six lagoon suites lined along the luscious gardens offer the garden shower at one end a balcony overlooking the immaculate gardens at the other.

Pool Lagoon Suite

15 pool lagoon suites are similar to the regular lagoon suites however the garden showers are replaced with private plunge pools just off the balconies.

Pool Garden Villa

Set at the back of the resort nestled within the gardens, these seven villas boast a larger pool with sun loungers and a greater sense of privacy. The sitting room and bedroom are more separated and there is also a jacuzzi in a conservatory style bathroom.

Seafront Jacuzzi Villa

Set at the front of the resort, these five villas are situated facing the beach and sea. Inside, they are the same as the garden villas except the jacuzzi is outside by the pool.

Two Bedroom Villa

Situated just behind the Seafront Jacuzzi Villas, the five two Bedroom Villas boast the biggest pools and also offer two jacuzzis in the two ensuite bathrooms that adjoin the two bedrooms.
