On This Trip
  • Find peace at Shwedagon Pagoda, Yangon
  • Reach the summit of Mount Popa

With years of experience in operating tours to Burma, Audley have designed this very comprehensive tour. It includes the main points of interest such as Yangon’s shimmering Shwedagon Pagoda, the stilted villages of Inle Lake, wonderfully evocative Mandalay and the thirty square miles of temples and pagodas at Bagan. The tour also includes an overnight stay in the colonial hill station of Maymyo or Pwin Oo Lwin as it is now known and an overnight visit to the Golden Rock pagoda.

The tour has been planned by Kate who has traveled to Burma twice with Audley Travel and has visited many of the more remote areas. For this trip we are using the Pandaw II for a two night trip, which traverses the Irrawaddy River between Bagan and Mandalay. The tour ends with a stay at the exclusive Strand Hotel in Yangon, a grand and well-located property reminiscent of the colonial era. As an optional excursion we are offering a hot air balloon flight over Bagan at sunrise – worth every penny to get a different perspective on the temples of Bagan. The tour will be lead by Terry Sullivan who has visited the country over 20 times and has a great knowledge and affection for it.
