On This Trip
  • Explore Kuching
  • Have an amazing stay at Borneo Rainforest Lodge, Danum Valley
  • Visit Sepilok Orang-utan Sanctuary

Malaysian Borneo’s vast jungles are some of the last wildlife havens in Southeast Asia. They are also home to unique tribes with ancient cultures and a real understanding of the forest. This group tour provides the opportunity to experience the highlights of both Sarawak and Sabah staying in a range of accommodation from traditional longhouses to hotels of an international standard.

In Sarawak you will have time to explore the colonial riverside city of Kuching and sample some of the local delicacies. A short distance away is Bako National Park where mangrove forests, abundant wildlife, jungle streams, waterfalls, diverse plant life, secluded beaches and trekking trails never fail to delight. No visit to Sarawak is complete without a trip to the longhouses of the legendary Iban Headhunters and here you can opt for a homestay or slightly more comfort at the beautiful Batang Ai Hilton.

In Sabah the Kinabatangan River and the Danum Valley Conservation Area provide unrivalled opportunities for wildlife watching. Many species of primates, amazing birdlife and wild cats abound and wild orang-utans can still be spotted making nests at dusk or rising with the sun at dawn. Your excursions with experienced guides will be planned for the best wildlife spotting times to enhance your trip for a once in a life time experience.

The tour includes a visit to both of Malaysian Borneo’s orang-utan rehabilitation centres - Semenggok and Sepilok - where you will learn about the conservation of one of our closest relatives and support the work carried out there. In the Kinabatangan River area there will be the opportunity to get involved in a tree planting programme. Audley will also pay to ‘compensate’ for the carbon emissions of everyone on the tour with a donation to Friends of Conservation.
