Adventure cruising: the SS Mary-Anne in the Galapagos Islands
There is no better way to view the amazing wildlife and magnificent scenery of the Galapagos Islands that aboard one of the fully-equipped and extremely comfortable cruise vessels available through Audley.
Your choice of Galapagos cruise vessel is the most important decision you will make when planning your perfect trip.
Vessels vary in size from small (8 to 20 passengers), medium (40 to 50 passengers) and large (90 passengers and more), the advantages and disadvantages of each size being detailed below.
Of course, your decision may be regulated by your budget. As a general rule the medium sized boats are the most expensive, followed by the large vessels. The small boat cruises are the most numerous and therefore vary widely in price.
The vessels featured here are only a selection but they are our personal favourites based on our own inspections and they receive consistently glowing reports and endorsements from Audley clients.
We insist upon vessels with excellent naturalist guides, crew and food and all vessels featured have cabins with single, double or twin beds, windows and private facilities as well as air-conditioning.
All have the highest safety standards and snorkelling equipment is available for hire on all the vessels.
Named after the famous HMS Beagle that Charles Darwin sailed on to the Galapagos, the atmosphere on the Beagle is one of casual comfort and relaxation.
The M/Y Galapagos Odyssey is a brand new motor yacht which offers a high level of comfort and stability for a boat of its size.
The Sagitta is a a 120-foot steel-hulled graceful and spacious three-masted sailing yacht. Every cabin has its own en-suite bathroom with hot-water showers.
The Eclipse is an exclusive 65-metre vessel accommodating 48 passengers in her 27 classically-finished cabins. Despite her size the crew and guides maintain a friendly, intimate atmosphere similar to that of a small boat, whilst having the stability and facilities expected of a larger vessel.
The Isabela II is a spacious and elegant motor yacht with facilities that include three naturalist guides, a Jacuzzi, reading room and a glass-bottomed observation boat.
With a capacity of 100 passengers, Explorer II is one of the biggest vessels to operate in the Galapagos and is perfect for those seeking a more relaxed, conventional cruising style trip to the islands.
Eric, Flamingo and Letty are three, near identical, 25 metre motor yachts with capacity for 20 passengers each. The guide to passenger ratio of one to ten is amongst the best in the Galapagos.
