Wild flowers, Bathurst Inlet.

"The magic of seeing a polar bear in its natural environment is a thrill beyond description, especially when set amongst the beauty of the flower-strewn tundra."

Fiona Pearce, The Arctic Specialist

For a couple of months during July and August the harsh, extreme weather conditions of the Arctic subside and allow travellers the opportunity to spend a little time exploring this magnificent region.

During this period of Arctic summer it is possible for temperatures to reach 18 degrees Celsius and delicate wildflowers are seen in abundance, creating a carpet of colour on a usually snow-covered landscape.

The Arctic is, of course, also home to the polar bear and summer in this majestic terrain is an excellent time to view these incredible creatures.

Travel to the Arctic

The vast and remote regions of the Arctic are largely ice-bound for much of the year and all but the hardiest would find it impossible to survive long in this harsh environment. For a few short weeks however, the Arctic summer makes travel here not only possible but a completely life-changing experience.
