Safari holidays: a male lion, Central Highlands area of northern Namibia
Namibia is an ideal country for families. The south is malaria free, many of the camps are fenced and guestfarms are run by people who’ve bought up their own children in the Bush.
As you can self-drive, you can tailor an itinerary to suit your family specifically. Car seats can be booked for young children and journeys planned with short distances, so you’re not hearing "are we nearly there yet?" constantly from the back seat!
The beauty of Namibia is that it offers probably the most diverse activities of any country. Children don’t have to be stuck on a game vehicle every morning and afternoon but can enjoy all sorts of things such as climbing dunes, kayaking amongst seals, meeting Bushmen, viewing flamingos, tracking elephant and bartering for wooden animals in the markets.
Finally, a lot of the hotels have pools which means that during the middle of the day children can swim to their hearts content.
