Centuries of self-imposed isolation have left the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan virtually untouched by the influences of the modern world. As well as this unique culture it also has a surprising amount of wildlife.

On the western slopes of the Black Mountains lies a designated conservation area, where the endangered black-necked cranes migrate from the Tibetan plateau to spend the winter months. In addition there is much larger wildlife such as the tiger, one horned rhino, clouded leopard and the sloth bear.
