The Atlantic International Balloon Fiesta came about simply as a novel way of extending the local tourist season, the date was 1985. Since then, every September balloonists from all over the country have been invited to the Sussex area for a weekend of flying. It provides a great spectacle for any visiting tourists especially in this pretty part of New Brunswick.
