Family Safaris at Flatdogs

  • International flights, airport taxes, all transfers.
  • Accommodation: 6 nights in two South Luangwa camps on a full board basis.
  • All activities including game drives, walking safaris and night drives.

Until recently family safaris have been relatively expensive in the Luangwa Valley in high season. Now, however Flatdogs Camp has built some a collection of new chalets and one Jackalberry Treehouse (built around a jackalberry tree very popular with elephants) where families can stay together for very affordable prices.

Flatdogs is ideal for families with children of all ages. There is a pool, plenty of space to play, children’s menus and nanny service for when the kids are in bed and adults want to enjoy dinner with a more sophisticated ambience!

Activities include morning and evening game drives in the South Luangwa as well as visits to Kawaza Village, so the family can see how Kunda families live, grow their food, cook and go to school.

Also in the area is the Chipembele Wildlife Education Centre which is an interesting half day visit where children can learn about conservation and also see the orphan animals (or 10!) that are usually around.

Finally, a full day in the park with picnic in the bush is usually a great end to family safari. The safari is tailored to the family and the team at Flatdogs work very hard to ensure that everyone has the holiday that they want.
