Biography
Tim set off to travel at a young age and spent several months travelling around South East Asia. It wasn't long before he was drawn to Africa and he rapidly fell in love with this amazing continent.
Tim has recently explored Mozambique and Tanzania with Audley visiting many of the camps and lodges that we offer. Tim's highlights include seeing the sun rise over Mount Kilimanjaro, a walking safari with the Masai and island hopping in Mozambique. It is the range of wildlife and extraordinary landscapes that have left Tim with an infectious desire to return to Africa again and again.
In his spare time Tim rides horses and is currently learning to play the banjo.
My Most Memorable Experience
On the way to the Serengeti I stopped off at a place called Longido, about two hours from Arusha. Over three days I went out on a series of fascinating walks with my Masai guide, Sambecky, learning about the smaller animals of the African bush as well as Masai culture.
Sambecky had amazing knowledge and frequently stopped to demonstrate uses of different plants including the soap tree they use to wash with and the toothbrush tree. In the evenings after dinner, we sat around the campfire and listened to stories from the Masai and they would sing beautiful songs until it was time to turn in for the night.
A walking safari with the Masai really appealed to my sense of adventure. It's a truly unique experience that I would highly recommend for all ages.
My Favourite Destination

Ibo Island in Mozambique is the most fascinating and intriguing place I have ever been. Ibo is accessed by a stunning light aircraft flight over the Quirimbas national park from Pemba and is steeped in colonial history.
Ibo isn't your typical island getaway as it doesn't have beaches for sun bathing but the atmosphere and sense of history on the island makes a visit compelling. The small town is filled with crumbling large colonial style buildings left over from the Portuguese colonial era.
Walking the streets is a real history lesson and you will get the opportunity to visit the old Portugese forts as well as watching silversmiths hand make jewellery. Combining Ibo with an alternative island beach destination is a perfect way to spend a few days.
My Favourite Accommodation

Manta resort on Pemba Island (a small island just north of Zanzibar) is a personal favourite of mine. This lodge offers extremely comfortable accommodation and the rooms are tastefully decorated.
The beach is the best I have ever seen with fine white coral sand, the sea is crystal clear and refreshing and the diving is simply phenomenal.
The resort has a lovely pool overlooking the ocean and the dining area is the perfect place for a sundowner cocktail. It really is a place that offers ultimate relaxation.
