Biography
Following the completion of her A Levels, Amy first caught the travel bug and embarked on a backpacking trip of USA, Australia and Thailand. Three months of this time was spent travelling around Australia, where she fell in love with the laid back lifestyle and diverse landscapes of the country. Following this trip, Amy decided on a career in the travel industry, working for several tour operators over a six year period. Since joining Audley as a country specialist, Amy has returned to Australia on a research trip discovering the rugged sandstone escarpments of Kakadu National Park, the changing colours of Uluru and the variety of unique wildlife on Kangaroo Island, as well as Audley's favourite character accommodation and small group touring experiences throughout the country.
My Most Memorable Experience
"Cruising the Corroborree Billabong, part of the Mary River Wetlands 75 minutes from Darwin, provided a remarkable birdlife and wildlife experience, but when our group were lucky enough to witness a disagreement between two four metre 'salties' over their lunch, we certainly got more than we bargained for!"
My Favourite Destination
"Aboriginal owned Arnhem Land, a couple of hours drive from Darwin offers sandstone escarpments, beautiful floodplains and an authentic Aboriginal experience with an array of rock art sites.
A day trip from Darwin, or indeed in combination as part of a self-drive through the Kakadu National Park, really does enhance your experience of the Top End."
My Favourite Accommodation
"Surrounded by bushland and nestled on a cliff face overlooking the Southern Ocean, Southern Ocean Lodge on Kangaroo Island is one of Australia's first luxury lodges.
The 5* experience combined with personal service, quality touring and wonderful locally sourced food and wine makes this my favourite accommodation.
Hosts Ben and Lou ensure that you have everything you need, know all their guests by first name and what they have planned for their stay on the island. All suites have uninterrupted views over the Southern Ocean and total privacy".
