If you are in Adelaide, visit the Migration Museum. The modern country of Australia was built on immigration and this museum tells the story very well. Quote end

If you loved New Zealand, then try going to Tasmania for your next trip. Mountains, lakes and beautiful coast in one of the least visited of Australia's states. Quote end

Biography

James cuddling a wombat, Western Australia

After finishing University in Cardiff James decided to head off and see the world. He bought a one-way ticket to Sydney stopping in French Polynesia, the Cook Islands, Fiji and New Zealand.

A month long self-drive round New Zealand, taking in both islands and many major sights, gave James the bug for road trips. Once in Australia he set out to drive from Sydney to Perth and back again, and took in every state and territory on the way. The journey took in many of Australia's natural and urban wonders such as Melbourne, the Great Ocean Road, Perth, Uluru, the Great Barrier Reef and many more of the mainland highlights, whilst also including a trip across the Bass Strait to the state of Tasmania.

Once back in the UK James pursued a career in travel with a major UK travel agent, continuing to travel whilst he worked. He joined Audley as an Australia and New Zealand Specialist to concentrate on his main passion in that of travel. In his spare time James enjoys running and taking every opportunity to get away with his family in their campervan.

My Most Memorable Experience

"Watching the sealions and penguins at Sandfly Bay on the Otago Peninsula, New Zealand. After making our way through the sand dunes, to avoid meeting the sealions face to face on the beach, we spent an hour observing the penguins making their way up the beach one by one."

My Favourite Destination

Karijini, Australia

"The Karijini National Park gives you a feeling of total isolation. Spending the days walking through deep gorges with the occasional swimming hole and watching the sun go down over the glowing red Hamersley Ranges mountains is a truly magical experience."

My Favourite Accommodation

Shangri La Hotel, Australia

"As my favourite city down under any stay has to be at the Shangri-la. Its location near the Rocks is perfect for exploring Sydney on foot and via the many ferries from Circular Quay.

What makes this hotel really special is the views. If you want to see all of Sydney’s iconic sights from your room then the Deluxe, Executive and Premium Grand Harbour View rooms are ideal. Try also the Blu Bar on 36 or the Altitude Restaurant for cocktail and dining experiences with the same magic view."
