Biography
Born and raised in the southeast corner of Australia, Kaelene unlike many Australian's has been lucky enough to have travelled to every corner of her home country. Family holidays took in the Red Centre, top end, rugged west coast and The Great Barrier Reef, while university road trips included Melbourne to Sydney and on to tropical Queensland. She has experienced every state, territory, capital city and many of the off the beaten track locations only the locals know about.
Kaelene trained as an Occupational Therapist and moved to the UK to work in Rehabilitation. She travelled extensively through Europe, worked for tour companies in Italy and Spain and ran a chalet in the French Alps. Kaelene then returned to Australia to travel in her home country once again with her English partner.
Since joining Audley as a Country Specialist she has returned once again to Australia to experience some outstanding new locations and has got to know many of Audley’s preferred, characterful accommodation and unique small group tours.
My Most Memorable Experience
"I have been lucky enough to visit Uluru during a number of its multitude of moods, from its deep brooding purple on the cusp of dawn to its red glow at dusk. However upon venturing out following an unexpected desert storm to find The Rock covered in hundreds of cascades, I was completely awestruck. No matter how many pictures you have seen of Uluru, nothing can prepare you for your first sight of this remarkable place!"
My Favourite Destination

"Having only first set foot on Kangaroo Island since joining Audley I was amazed at the abundance of wildlife and spectacular natural attractions found in one destination, it has since taken pride of place as one of my favourite places in Australia. It really does offer some of the most amazing environs and wildlife the mainland has to offer, on a more intimate level.
The wild Southern Ocean has shaped the rugged coastline into fascinating rock formations in places and in other parts of the island you can enjoy deserted stretches of pristine white beaches and calm turquoise waters. The small community is rightly proud of its island and is careful to protect its native wildlife and unspoiled beauty, ensuring the discerning traveller experiences the very essence of Australia."
My Favourite Accommodation

"Thala Beach Lodge is located on a private headland between Cairns and Port Douglas, with great access to world heritage areas, The Great Barrier Reef and The Daintree Rainforest. The beautifully appointed bungalows are nestled amongst the native forest and surrounded by pristine tropical beaches.
The Ospreys Restaurant offers spectacular views of the Coral Sea, perched in the canopy of the surrounding rainforest it is a truly luxurious and breathtaking place to dine. There are many complementary activities available at the Lodge, such as bird watching, nature walks and star gazing, which all add to your Tropical Queensland experience."
