Biography

Attending an International School in Vienna as a child stimulated Beatrice's interest in the wider world from an early age, so during and after university she took a couple of extended trips, during which she discovered a fascination for the Indian Subcontinent. After training as an accountant, Beatrice made a career change and joined Audley Travel. With Audley, she has explored Rajasthan and Northern India, as well as the magical mountain states of Nepal and Bhutan. Here she has walked in the shadow of Everest and Annapurna, visited rural villages in the Kathmandu Valley, ridden elephants and searched for tigers in Chitwan National Park and witnessed typical Bhutanese celebrations on Bhutan National Day. In her spare time, Beatrice enjoys mountain biking, road biking, skiing, and most other outdoor activities.

Favourite Destination - Ghandruk

"A day's walk from the nearest road, charming Ghandruk is one of the larger villages in the foothills of the Annapurna Range. Predominantly populated by people from the Gurung tribe, the village is fascinating to wander around as all manner of daily chores and activities carry on around you.

But the best thing about Ghandruk is its location: high on the side of the valley, with fantastic views of Fishtail Mountain and the rest of the Annapurna Range."

Favourite Accommodation - Pokhara

"The views from this small hotel set below the Himalayan Annapurna Range near Pokhara will blow you away, particularly on a clear day, when you will be able to see Fishtail Mountain reflected in the wonderful infinity pool.

A high quality hotel, the managers encourage their guests to enjoy the wonderful surroundings, so don't expect to find a TV in your room or access to the internet. Day walks are offered in the local foothills, massages can be arranged, or simply relax on the terrace with a book from the library."

Most Memorable Experience

"The Seti river in Nepal flows through a remote valley far from any road. The experience of rafting down this turquoise river is fantastic, and the thing that struck me most was the outstanding peace and quiet, only broken occasionally by the gurgling of one of the gentle rapids.

An overnight stay can be arranged at the Seti River Camp - permanent tents set up right alongside the river, with campfire, viewing platforms, good food and extremely comfortable beds."
