Biography

Sian on a trip through The Backwaters in Kerala, India

During her time at university, Sian decided she needed a challenge which pushed her out of her comfort zone. After watching Slumdog Millionaire, Sian came to the decision to travel to India by herself and do some voluntary work. From then on, she was hooked.

After completing her BSc Criminology degree, Sian left the UK to continue her travels and ventured out to India on further trips, visiting the major cities of Jaipur, Varanasi, Delhi and Mumbai, and other areas. Sian's love for India and travelling was so strong that she decided a career in this area would be the perfect next step.

Since joining Audley, Sian has explored the beautiful state of Kerala where she has experienced the infamous backwaters and picturesque scenery. In addition, she has travelled extensively around Sri Lanka and experienced all of the wonderful things the country has to offer, including the ancient cities, hilltop tea plantations, wildlife safari's and beautiful beaches.

In her spare time, Sian can be found writing her travel blog and reading as well as planning her next big adventure.

My Most Memorable Experience

One of my most memorable experiences during my time in Sri Lanka was when I took a jeep safari out into Kaudulla National Park in the hope of spotting my favourite animal - the elephant.

When we drove out into the grassland of the park and spotted a large herd of elephants I was speechless. The sight was incredible and I became overwhelmed with seeing so many of these magnificent creatures in the wild.

Seeing the babies playing with each other and watching the adults in the watering hole is something I will never forget.

My Favourite Destination

Madurai, India

The magnificent city of Madurai is a sensory delight, with so much to see, hear and experience.

A must see is the Sri Meenakshi Temple, the atmosphere inside is inspiring with the 'Going to Bed' ceremony being a personal travel highlight of mine.

Shopping in the busy bazaars was a fantastic experience too.

My Favourite Accommodation

Aditya, Sri Lanka

Staying in the Aditya was a wonderful luxurious experience; the room was incredibly beautiful and it even had its own private jacuzzi overlooking the ocean.

The staff were very friendly and provided an excellent service. This is definitely one of the best boutique properties i have seen - I wish I could have stayed longer.
