Caroline (or Caz) was introduced to the wonders of travel at an early age by her parents who set sail on their sailing boat around the Mediterranean for a number of years. In between sailing holidays she completed her early education in North Wales, moving to Bradford University to complete her media communications degree. Upon gaining her BSc, Caz moved to Leeds and worked in the consumer good sector as a sales manager.
In 2006 Caz took up scuba diving and embarked on a career-changing trip to Southeast Asia to become a scuba diving instructor. She traveled extensively throughout Thailand, Malaysia, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam and Indonesia, where she was lucky enough to find work on the 'Raja Laut', a luxury charter sailing yacht. Her passion for travel ignited, in 2008 Caz returned to the UK to fulfill her dreams of working in the travel industry. Caz is also a qualified personal trainer and life coach who enjoys running, cooking curries, films, writing, volcanoes, the ocean and DIY.
My Most Memorable Experience
Sailing down to the Komodo Islands in Indonesia to see the dragons has been probably one of the most special experiences of my life so far. There is so much to see and do around the islands you could be entertained forever. My highlights were seeing the Komodo Dragons, diving to see the hot gases coming up through the sand near Tambora volcano and a moon lit barbeque on the beach with not another soul in sight. Truly amazing!
My Favourite Destination
My favourite destination is Indonesia, the diversity of terrain is incredible, mainly due to the volcanic activity that is so evident almost everywhere in Indonesia. I have been lucky enough to see many volcanos during my travels and my best experience was sleeping on the beach next to Anak Krakatau under a full moon while watching it smoke and making friends with the local Monitor Lizard.
My Favourite Accommodation
After enjoying the sunrise at Borobodour, I arrived at the Amanjiwo for a day of relaxation and rejuvenation. As I drove down to the property I could feel the goose bumps grow as I saw that the building perfectly frames Borobodour in the distance. I knew the magic was beginning. The class and unique charm of this hotel will stay in my thoughts for years to come. A must stay on Java!
