Biography

Having grown up in Brunei, Nick loved travelling from an early age. A gap year saw him travel through Southeast Asia, before working in Australia and New Zealand.

Throughout university Nick returned to Asia many times, the highlight of which was time spent in Vietnam and Laos. Whilst working in financial recruitment the itchy feet returned, leading him to teach English at Shanghai University. After the chaos and excitement of Shanghai, Nick felt it was time to get a proper job, and returned to the UK where he joined Audley.

Nick now puts his knowledge of other cultures and travel to good use talking to people about an area he considers to be home from home. Since joining Audley Nick has returned to Southeast Asia on five different occasions, with his last trip an exciting journey following the Mekong through Laos, Cambodia and Vietnam.

My Most Memorable Experience

"Sunrises in Borneo are often spectacular, but non more so than at the top of Mount Kinabalu. Standing at over 4000m, I watched the sunrise, lighting up the South China Sea and the surrounding national park.

Whilst the walk up and down was a steady slog, it was well worth it for the view alone. The elation of being at the peak made it all the more special, and left me with some amazing memories."

My Favourite Destination

Langkawi

"Langkawi has several beautiful hotels, and you could easily spend a week or two pampering yourself at one of several wonderful five star resorts. Escape from your lovely hotel though and you'll find that Langkawi has a lot to offer.

Recently named a UNESCO world heritage site, the island has some excellent trails. Hiring a bike is a great option, and allows you to explore fishing villages, local markets and the beautiful countryside."

My Favourite Accommodation

"Singapore is well known for it's excellent hotels, and The Fullerton continues this tradition. A beautiful example of neo classical architecture, the hotel was converted from the old post house and retains much of its charm.

Located on the Boat Quay, The Fullerton dominates the surrounding area and really is a spectacular building. It's room are tastefully decorated and understated, though you are left in no doubt that you are in five star hotel.

Any guest staying on a Sunday should take advantage of a wonderful brunch, famous throughout Singapore for it's wonderful food and champagne!"
