Biography
After graduating from University, Matthew got his first taste of travel with a year-long working holiday in Australia. A career in IT followed, which was punctuated with regular road trips and skiing holidays in the USA.
A further gap year spent mostly in South America confirmed his desire to work in the travel industry. On his return he pursued a career with a leading UK travel agent, continuing to be inspired by the diversity that the USA had to offer.
Wishing to focus on a part of the world that he was continually drawn to, Matthew joined Audley as a USA specialist. In his spare time he enjoys hiking, cycling, snowboarding and tending to his chickens.
My Most Memorable Experience
"Taking a helicopter flight over the Grand Canyon is an experience I will never forget and should be on everybody’s 'bucket list'. From the South Rim of the Grand Canyon you initially fly low over the beautiful Kaibab National Forest. The feeling upon reaching the edge of the canyon, as the South Rim drops away is one that left me speechless. For me it is the most spectacular view in the entire canyon."
My Favourite Destination
,
"Often overshadowed by the nearby Grand Canyon, Zion National Park in Utah is awe-inspiring in its own right. The park offers some of the best hiking on the Colorado Plateau with options for all abilities.
My particular favourite is the trail to Angel's Landing. This is not for the faint hearted, but the views of Zion Canyon are worth the strenuous climb."
My Favourite Accommodation

"In a city full of big and brash hotels the Mandarin Oriental is an oasis of calm. The hotel is unique to Las Vegas as it does not have a casino. Therefore, the hotel is perfect if you want to experience the bright lights of the city but also have the option to relax in luxurious surroundings.
Located in the heart of the strip, many of the city's shows and attractions are a short walk away. High floor rooms give superb views of the strip and the desert beyond."
