A local guide shows guests ancient San rock art in South Africa's Cederberg Mountains
With Audley, where you stay is very much part of the experience. Wherever possible we try to track down characterful accommodation. We regularly inspect the accommodation we use, updating our knowledge on existing properties and researching new alternatives. Some of our most interesting properties are featured in our brochures and on this website, although we can recommend many others to suit all budgets and tastes.
The quality of your guide can make the difference between a good trip and an outstanding one. The guides we use have been picked by us or our local representatives as the best available and great care has been taken over their training. They provide more than just dates or names; they strive to offer a real insight into their country and region. Some may even welcome you into their home or their local temple. By the end of their trip many Audley clients say a reluctant goodbye, feeling they have made a lifelong friend.
We choose the most appropriate means of transport for each sector of your journey depending on your budget and travel tastes.
In most cases the person you are dealing with at Audley has travelled along that route themselves and knows all the travel options, be it by road, rail, air or water.
While you’re away, you will be in the capable hands of our partners overseas. You will be able to contact our office from abroad on a special number manned 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and, in the case of an emergency, your friends or family back home will be able to get a message to you.
When you travel with Audley, you will receive a comprehensive Travel Organiser which includes useful additional information, including restaurant recommendations and insider advice. If you are on a self-drive itinerary, it will include detailed driving instructions.
Approximately two to three weeks before departure you will receive your Travel Organiser, which will contain day-by-day details of your upcoming trip presented in a convenient personal organiser. As well as the detailed itinerary you will also find all sorts of additional information, from restaurant recommendations to driving instructions. Notes on cultural considerations are included to ensure you are able to make the most of your time within the country and interact in a positive way with the people you will meet.
