Make a weekend of it
If you are planning to visit us from farther afield to plan your trip with one of our specialists, you may wish to consider staying overnight or for the weekend and enjoying some of the attractions in the area. Here are some of our recommendations and some accommodation suggestions.
Oxford
As well as its historic colleges, Oxford has some excellent museums offering free entry. The Ashmolean has world class art and archaeological collections, while the Natural History Museum is well worth a visit, but perhaps of most interest to travellers is the Pitt Rivers Museum. This fascinating anthropological collection contains cases and displays of everything from shrunken heads to a dhow, as well as Wilfred Thesiger’s collection of over 40,000 photographs, some of which are on permanent display.
Visit Oxford is the official website for visitor information on Oxford and the surrounding area.

Woodstock
The historic market town of Woodstock adjoins Blenheim Palace and is close to the village of Bladon, resting place of Winston Churchill.
Blenheim Palace, home to 11th Duke of Marlborough and the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill, offers a memorable day out.
Set in 2100 acres of beautiful parkland landscaped by ‘Capability’ Brown, the exquisite baroque palace is surrounded by sweeping lawns, formal gardens and the magnificent lake.
Inside, the scale of the palace is beautifully balanced by the intricate detail and delicacy of the carvings, the hand-painted ceilings and the amazing porcelain collections, tapestries and paintings displayed in each room.
Situated in Woodstock, just eight miles from Oxford, the Palace became a World Heritage site in 1987.
Woodstock itself offers a range of pubs, restaurants and quality shops.
