Located at the entrance of Denali National Park, Denali Bluffs Hotel is an excellent place to base yourself during your time in the park. The hotel is built on the slopes of Sugar Loaf Mountain, and commands expansive views of the surrounding mountains.
The decor echoes that of Alaskan log cabins, with timber frames and roaring hearths. There are two good dining options, including a grill restaurant which serves delicious barbecues. Rooms are clean and simply furnished, and many have private balconies that look out over the Alaskan Range.
The hotel will help arrange wilderness activities and experiences (such as 4x4 safaris and biking).
OUR OPINION:
This hotel feels removed from the hustle and bustle of other park entrance hotels, and while its rooms are simple, they have some very rewarding views over Denali National Park.

Rooms
The hotel’s 112 guest rooms are set among the trees of a sloping hillside. Most have private balconies, and all have TVs, free Wi-Fi, a fridge, private bathrooms, and tea/coffee making facilities. There are also 64 premium rooms, which feature a private veranda, air conditioning, and more modern decor. Rooms are no-frills and very simply decorated, but are clean and comfortable.
Location
Nestled in the hills above the Nenana River, Denali Bluffs Hotel offers views of the river below and the surrounding Alaskan Range. Set on the outskirts of the village of Denali, you’re close enough to take advantage of amenities such as shops and restaurants, but also far enough away to enjoy some peace and quiet. The hotel is just over a four-hour drive from Anchorage, and just over a two-hour drive from Fairbanks.
Food and drink
The Mountaineer Grill & Bar is open for both breakfast and dinner, and serves a range of beers and wine. Its barbecue platters are a highlight. The Perky Moose Pantry and Café offers a variety of takeaway drinks, snacks and sandwiches. The café can also arrange packed lunches (box lunches) for visitors heading out on day trips.

The hotel can help you arrange activities and experiences from the nearby village of Denali, including 4x4 tours, biking, rafting, hiking and flight-seeing. There’s a complimentary local shuttle to the village, and plenty of parking at the hotel. Laundry facilities are also available on site.
