Only two hours north of the popular tourist destination Guilin, the magnificent and ancient rice terraces of Longji, the ‘Dragon’s Backbone’, offer an awe-inspiring location to experience Zhuang minority culture first-hand.
A night in a local guesthouse among the terraces offers the adventurous a fabulous opportunity to escape the bustle of modern China and experience a traditional rural way of life.
Guided walks of all lengths can also be organised between the many villages that dot the hillsides. The crowds have not yet made it to this region, though they will not be long in coming — our recommendation is to get there soon and savour the atmosphere before they do.
