Depart from London on the late morning Thai Airways flight.
Connect in Bangkok straight on to Mandalay. On arrival in Mandalay you will be met at the airport by a private car and an English speaking guide. Enjoy time at leisure after your long haul flight.
A fascinating and diverse day spent discovering Mandalay's various sights and attractions. At the end of the day you will be taken up to Mandalay Hill for a view over the surrounding plains at sunset.
From Mandalay you will be driven east to Maymyo where you can enjoy a stroll around the botanical gardens in this former British Hill Station.
From Maymyo you head further east to Hsipaw, crossing the scenic pass at Goteik on the railway. Arrive in Hsipaw mid afternoon and relax for the rest of the day or take a stroll through town.
This morning you head out into the countryside on foot, taking in a few local villages and some lovely scenery. In the afternoon you jump in a small local boat for a trip on the Dotawaddy river.
You return to Mandalay by road today.
Visit the ancient capitals of Inwa and Amarapura today.
Leaving Mandalay you will travel via the picturesque Sagaing Hills to Monywa. On arrival visit Shwe Ba Hill and the Po Win temple complex.
This morning you travel onto the town of Pakokku and board a local boat for your journey downstream to Bagan.
Spend the day exploring the temples of Bagan with your knowledgeable guide.
Take a short flight to Heho this morning and on arrival you will be collected from the airport and transferred to Pindaya where you will stay in the charming Pindaya Inle Inn. Spend the afternoon exploring the local area and enjoy lunch with a Danu family in their home.
Day 13Pindaya - Nyaung Shwe
Travel onto Inle Lake today and spend the afternoon relaxing at your hotel.
Day 14Inle Lake - Nyaung Shwe
Explore Inle Lake by boat, witnessing the unique leg rowers of this area.
Day 15Inle Lake - Nyaung Shwe
Spend the day enjoying some wonderful trekking through the countryside.
A short flight takes you to the former colonial capital, Yangon. After lunch you will be given a tour of the iconic Shwedagon Pagoda. You then head down to 19th Street to enjoy a cold drink in this bustling thoroughfare.
Day 17Rangoon (Yangon) - Rangoon
Mid morning you will be taken on a fascinating trip on the circle train that weaves its way through the city, giving you chance to witness the daily lives of the local people. In the afternoon enjoy a tour of Yangon's colonial past, using the many grand and imposing buildings as the focal point of the narrative.
A morning flight takes you back to Bangkok where you pick up your flight back to London. You arrive into London in the early evening.
