Places to visit in Mongolia

Parliament Building, Ulaanbaatar
Vast swathes of Mongolia are taken up by open wildernesses unchanged by time. This is a land that seems to go on forever, where steppe roamed by wild horses meets the gentle slopes of mountains, alpine lakes and the sweeping sands of the Gobi Desert. Our specialists have explored much of this intrepid country and can use their travel experiences to help you decide where to go on your Mongolia holiday.

The capital, Ulaanbaatar, is one of the country’s only urban areas. Modern buildings are surrounded by a large ger district that combines a traditional way of life with 21st-century comforts. But the best places to visit are the remote areas of Khustain Nuruu National Park, where you can get a taster of nomadic life, and the mountainous alpine scenery of Lake Khuvsgul — Central Asia’s deepest lake.
