Kasbah Ait Ben Moro

Built in the 18th century, the Kasbah Ait Ben Moro has been beautifully restored using traditional techniques. Although the rooms are basic, the tasteful Moroccan decor and ambient lighting makes this characterful hotel a place not to miss. The warren of rooms, tight staircases and courtyards make the feel very authentic. Allied to this, many of the staff were born in the kasbah, moved away to look for jobs and returned after it was restored and turned into a hotel, making it a fascinating insight into life within a kasbah.

Ait Ben Moro provides a great base for exploring nearby palm plantations and other kasbahs, which have not been so fortunate in the restoration stakes. The food is delicious and typically Moroccan, with fresh meat, fish and vegetables for the tagines, while international cuisine is also available. There is a lovely garden at the back where you can sit and enjoy lunch or a mint tea, and the roof terraces offer fabulous views of the palm groves and the distant Atlas Mountains.
