Bondi Beach Penthouse

Bondi Beach Penthouse

The views are the first thing that strike you when you step into this private apartment. Its terrace looks out over the golden sweep of Bondi Beach and the Pacific. Due to the way the building is positioned (on a hillside behind Bondi Icebergs, a celebrated oceanfront swimming club), it feels as though you're floating right over the water. From this vantage point, you can watch all the surfing theatrics on display below, while the susurration of the waves forms the soundtrack to your stay.

Light pours in from large floor-to-ceiling or panoramic windows around the property: you can even gaze out to sea while doing the washing-up. The open-plan kitchen, living room and dining space is decked out in simple whites and creams, with Italian Carrara marble and rows of white candles, and prints and photography punctuate the otherwise neutral walls. The whole place has a relaxed, beach house vibe combined with artful urbanite design. There are four bedrooms, off-street parking, Wi-Fi, cable TV with Netflix, a 24-hour concierge service and an optional housekeeping service.

The penthouse is situated close to Bondi's main streets, meaning you can easily access all their cafés and amenities while still feeling like you're staying right on the beachfront.

There are four bedrooms, all with en suites. The master bedroom has a super-king bed and a bathroom with a shower and bathtub, as well as its own balcony. The remaining bedrooms have queen-sized beds. Two other en suites come with bathtubs, while the fourth has a shower. Rooms are all furnished in whites, creams and greys, in keeping with the rest of the penthouse, with the odd dash of brightness in the bed linens. Bathrooms come equipped with luxury toiletries, and are decorated with beachcombed items, such as pieces of coral, and scented candles.

Overlooking the Bondi Icebergs Club, the penthouse faces north over the full sweep of Bondi Beach. When standing on the balcony, it feels as though you’re hovering over the ocean. From the apartment, you can easily join the clifftop walking trail that runs along Sydney’s eastern shoreline, while Sydney’s CBD (central business district) is a half-hour bus ride away or a 15-30-minute drive.

Food and drink

The penthouse has a fully equipped kitchen and is within walking distance of all Bondi’s best restaurants and cafés. The apartment also comes with the services of an on-call concierge, who will be happy to arrange grocery and meal deliveries. The Bondi Icebergs Club, which has a good bistro-style restaurant, is located just over the road from the penthouse building.

The penthouse has plenty of space to accommodate families and Bondi is a very family-friendly community.

Facilities and activities

The penthouse’s on-call concierge can arrange any local activities for you, while Bondi Beach’s many gyms, yoga classes and surf schools are practically on your doorstep. A short walk downstairs brings you to the Bondi Icebergs Club, which you can join for free for the duration of your stay.

There's an elevator leading directly from the parking area up to the penthouse, making this home accessible if you have reduced mobility.

Our opinion

This place has some of the best ocean and beach views we’ve ever seen in Australia. If that’s a priority for you, and you’re interested in a more independent experience than hotels can offer, then this is great option.
