Day 6 Hamilton Island
A full day at leisure to explore the highlights of Hamilton Island. Choose to do as much or as little as you like today. You'll depart Hamilton Island this morning and fly north to the vibrant city of Cairns, a flight of approximately 1 hour and a quarter. Upon arrival collect a hire-car and drive the Captain Cook Highway and into the lush Daintree Rainforest. You'll check into your lodge for two nights located in the thick of the rainforest.
Day 8 Daintree & Cape Tribulation
Spend a full day at leisure exploring this special place. The Daintree - Cape Tribulation coast is the only place in the world where two World Heritage Sites exist side by side: the world famous Great Barrier Reef and the most ancient rainforest in the world, the Daintree National Park. Suffice to say, there is a lot to do in this natural environment, including plenty of walking opportunities. We'd recommend sampling a few of these well signposted walks on a day exploring the area, including from the accessible Cape Tribulation car park from where a short boardwalk winds its way through mangroves and coastal scenery.
Day 9 Cooktown
Unless travelling with a 4x4, you'll need to retrace some of your steps south this morning before heading inland and travelling around the western perimeter of the Daintree Rainforest on the accessible sealed route to Cooktown. This journey is approximately 4.5 hours. Arrive in Cooktown this afternoon and enjoy a relaxing afternoon with your gregarious hosts and exploring the lodge's beautiful landscaped gardens.
