Itinerary idea in detail

Includes international flights from a choice of UK airports, including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Darwin.

  • On-board your international outbound flight to Darwin.

  • On arrival in Darwin, you will be transferred by private vehicle to your downtown accommodation, where you will stay for three nights.

  • Explore the Litchfield National Park today on this full-day excursion. You will be collected from your accommodation in Darwin and driven to the national park to see Florence Falls and Buley Rockhole, where you can swim or relax. In the afternoon, you will take a wildlife cruise to spot crocodiles before returning to Darwin.

  • This morning, you will fly from Darwin to Davidson's Arnhem Land by charter flight. As you fly to the property, you will fly over the remote lands of Arnhem Land, which are filled with rugged billabongs and flood plains and are a great place to spot Australian wildlife. Spend the next three nights in this remote region of Australia.

  • Today, explore the region around Mount Borradaile. The property includes several experiences as part of your stay, or you can upgrade your experiences to adventure further afield.

  • Spend another day exploring the Arnhem Land region. We recommend taking a floodplain boat ride through the local rainforest to see some waterfalls and floodplains.

  • Depart Davidson's Arnhemland and fly to Bamurru Plains just outside of Kakadu National Park. You will spend the next three nights at this safari lodge and have time to explore the 300 km of open space around the property.

  • Spend the day exploring the region around Bamurru Plains. The property includes several experiences as part of your stay, or you are able to upgrade your experiences to adventure further afield.

  • Explore the region around Bamurru Plains and Sampan River to try and spot crocodiles, birds and intriguing reptiles of the area.

  • Transfer back to Darwin today via a chartered light aircraft from Bamurru Plains. Upon arrival, you will be met by a driver who will transfer you to the Ghan Expedition in time for your four-day, three-night train expedition, which will see you travel 2,979 kilometres (1,851 miles) from Darwin to the southern city of Adelaide. The first leg of your journey today will take you to the Top End township of Katherine and the option to take a relaxing cruise through the Nitmiluk Gorge.

  • You'll wake this morning to a different set of landscapes, with the tropical north giving way to the spectacular Red Centre overnight. A full day of excursions is on the menu today in the Outback town of Alice Springs, though you may wish to choose to upgrade onboard and take a scenic flight to Uluru as part of your day's adventure. Dinner will be served under the stars tonight at the historic Alice Springs Telegraph Station.

  • If you haven't quite grasped the scale of the Australian Outback by now, then today you almost certainly will as your expedition travels to the weird and wonderful opal mining township of Coober Pedy, a town unique not just for its link to opals but also the fact that more than half of the residents live underground.

  • You'll see a dramatic change of landscapes today as your journey comes out of the Red Centre and edges closer to the coast and the cosmopolitan city of Adelaide. You'll arrive in Adelaide mid-morning, where you'll be transferred to your hotel and spend the final night of your itinerary.

  • Arrive home today to complete your journey.
