This year marks 20 years since Audley was born. To celebrate, throughout July we asked everyone to share their most loved travel photographs and memories from the last 20 years, and we gave away 20-travel related prizes to our favorites.
We were thrilled to see how many of you got involved, and we loved reading through your wonderful experiences over the years.
It was a tough choice to narrow it down to just 20 winners, but here are the final 20 which we announced throughout July on social media.
Our top 20 winning photographs
1. Ian Blackman was our first #20YearsOfTravel winner for this beautiful picture of Torres del Paine in Patagonia, Chile.
2. Our second winner, Alastair Swan, took this incredible shot in 2012 of U-Bein's Bridge in Myanmar.
I loved the silhouettes of the Buddhist monks making their way home and the dramatic sky.
3. Liz Musselwhite won our third prize with this photograph of an Arctic Fox curled up in the snow near Churchill, Manitoba in 2012.
4. These ladies boiling sweet rice in Karaikudi in India back in 2013 was taken by winner Caroline Brooks.
5. Taken in 2014, this photograph of the morning fog above the River Danube in Budapest was our fifth winner, taken by James Farley.
6. In 2015 Ian Johnston visited eastern Madagascar, where this crowned lemur used to visit his chalet every evening in the hope of finding food.
7. Peter Geraerts took this image in Svalbard in 2011.
The polar bear just sat down on the ice and settled down. She wasn't worried that we were there.
8. Lizzie Norton took this photo while on her trip to Cayo Santa Maria, Cuba in 2013.
Each night a wonderful saxophone player would serenade us until the sun sank into the sea.
9. Our ninth winner, Falhguni Marwadi, took this photo of a trekking spot in Himachal Pradesh, India in 2016.
Triund Top is one of the most beautiful trekking spots in Himachal Pradesh.
10. David Ronald Nash traveled to Costa Rica in 2015.
The wildlife you see while staying in the jungle at Pacuare Lodge is wonderful.
11. Tracy Johnston is our 11th winner for capturing this humpback whale breaching in Madagascar in 2015.
12. Diana Gale is our 12th winner with this photograph from her trip to Botswana.
We had seen incredible wildlife all day, it was precious to be serenaded by elephants silhouetted in the waning sun.
13. This sunrise over Mount Bromo in Indonesia taken by Suzanne Ross, is our 13th winner.
The plumes of smoke pouring from the crater caught the sunlight just as the early morning mist created a mystical setting around the base.
14. This photograph of friendly Icelandic horses by Kelsey Jean Milla, is our 14th winner.
The moment we walked toward the fence they came galloping over to us.
15. This photograph of an ostrich family taken by Guy Cheeseman was taken in South Africa’s Eastern Cape in 2014 and is our 15th #20YearsOfTravel winner.
16. Ann Chown is our 16th winner with this amazing photograph of Bagan at dawn.
I specifically asked whether we could get up early to shoot the sunrise over the marvelous pagodas.
17. Winner number 17, Louisa Purvis, took this photo in 2014 just outside Battambang, Cambodia.
The villagers would literally pick up their houses and move inland to the drier ground.
18. Peter Samwell’s capture of Lake Matheson in New Zealand is our 18th winner.
This trip was an adventure of a lifetime for my wife and I. Sadly, the weather prevented us from going whale watching at Kaikoura and heli-hiking at Franz Josef. However, when we got to Lake Matheson early in the morning those disappointments just melted away, it was a view to be cherished forever.
19. Steve Dean is our 19th winner for this wonderful shot of a lion in South Africa, sent in by his wife Emma.
We had the heart stopping moment of what sounded like a lion roaring outside our ‘tent’, he was still at it the next morning, so on our final morning game drive our guide took us to find him.
20. Tony Frazer-Price is our 20th and final winner for this photo from Bhutan in 2000.
It was a rare treat to see the Paro festival bouncing with dancing and color.
