Caroline in Rome

Caroline, Italy, Croatia & Turkey Specialist

My passion for travel was sparked after a family trip to Italy in high school. I went on to study history and Italian Language at the College of the Holy Cross and developed a broad understanding of Italy's history and culture. I also spent a year living in Bologna, Italy learning how to speak Italian and cooking the local cuisine. I took advantage of my time abroad and explored every corner of Italy as well as visiting Croatia, Turkey and other European destinations.

After graduating college, I spent some time in the travel industry before deciding to join the Europe team at Audley. Whether it's wine tasting in Tuscany, sailing along the Dalmatian Coast or hot air ballooning over Cappadocia, Italy, Turkey and Croatia remain countries that I’m passionate about.

When not exploring Europe, I enjoy working out at Title Boxing, trying the best restaurants in Boston, and drinking a nice glass of Italian red wine with friends.

Positano, Amalfi Coast

I recommend visiting - The Amalfi Coast

I have visited the Amalfi Coast numerous times and it never ceases to amaze me with its beauty and spectacular coastal views. You can also hike the famous Path of the Gods from Agerola to Positano, visit the historic Pompeii ruins, explore the quaint fishing villages that line the coast, or rent a boat for the day and sail over to the picturesque island of Capri. The cuisine in the area is all based around fresh seafood and every restaurant specializes in serving up their own catch of the day. For me, this area has it all - delicious food, amazing views, and great people.

Villa Dubrovnik, Dubrovnik

I recommend staying at - Villa Dubrovnik

Deluxe

My favorite accommodation in Croatia would have to be the Villa Dubrovnik, located just outside the Old Town of Dubrovnik. It offers unmatched views over the city and the Adriatic sea and provides a quiet oasis amidst the busy hustle and bustle. Its 52 rooms are designed in a modern luxurious style and most offer amazing balconies with views of the sea where you can relax with a glass of wine and take it all in. Villa Dubrovnik has its own private beach club, pool, and spa - everything you would need to have a relaxing stay along the cost. The staff is always waiting to help and provides a memorable stay for you on the Adriatic.

I'll never forget when…

My favorite experience in Italy has to be the 'catch your own dinner' excursion from Sorrento. We sailed along the breathtaking Amalfi coastline, before helping cast and pull in the nets and then sort the huge catch from starfish to sea bass. Back at the restaurant, the chef prepared our fish, and less than ten minutes later, we enjoyed a delicious dinner, whilst watching the sunset over the Sorrento coast.
