One of the key highlights of Acajou Beach Resort is its location on beautiful Cote D’Or Beach. Set right on the beachfront of this long stretch of typically Seychellois, powder soft sand, it’s perfect for beach lovers looking for a relaxing break. With a scattering of local restaurants and small shops within walking distance it’s also well suited to those who’d like to explore a little.
Set among pretty gardens, the low rise, timber buildings of the resort have an almost log cabin feel and blend well with the pretty gardens.
A small, characterful resort, its local owners have been involved in the country’s tourism industry for decades and are committed to promoting and protecting Seychelles’ Creole culture
The 52 rooms are set in two-storey, timber framed buildings within the pretty gardens or in a newer two-storey building at the beachfront. Each is air conditioned and offers Wi-Fi, mini bar and tea/coffee facilities.
Please note the rooms are equipped with shower only and don’t have a bath tub.
Acajou has a fantastic beachfront location on Cote D’Or beach. One of the best beaches on the island, it stretches for over 2 km (1.2 Miles) with beautiful soft, white sand and just a handful of small hotels dotted along its length.
The resort is also within easy reach of a selection of local restaurants that can be reached in 10-20 minutes’ walk along the beach.
Food and Drink
There are two restaurants at the hotel.
Les Boucaniers serves buffet breakfast and either table d’hote set menu or themed buffets for dinner. Several times a week diners are entertained by local musicians and singers.
The Starfish pool bar and restaurant offers a simple, casual setting overlooking the beachfront serving drinks and snacks all day. It's open for lunch, serving a selection of salads or sandwiches, fresh seafood and local dishes, such as octopus curry.
Acajou Beach Resort welcomes families, although there are no specific children’s facilities.
Facilities and Activities
There is a beachfront pool as well as a small fitness room. Bicycles can be rented from the resort and although watersports aren’t available directly from the hotel they can be arranged nearby.
As this is a small, boutique property it doesn’t have the wide range of facilities that the larger chains offer and a stay here is all about enjoying the beauty of its prime, beachfront location and exploring the island.
The hotel doesn’t have a spa but there is a massage room where guests can enjoy a variety of treatments.
Diving can be arranged through a couple of nearby.
Environmental and Social Responsibility
Acajou was built with wood that was cultivated in an ecological, friendly manner and the hotel’s refurbishment in 2014 was carefully planned to take advantage of modern technology and reduce the hotel’s carbon footprint.
A new photovoltaic solar panel system was installed so that most of the resort’s lighting and air conditioning needs can be powered by the sun and a new waste management system was installed to limit the impact of waste that the hotel generates.
The hotel will be happy to help arrange local tours, boat trips and fishing.
This small resort offers an unbeatable location on one of Praslin’s best beaches. Although it may not have the wide range of facilities or the slick, modern design of a larger hotel it makes up for this with a more intimate atmosphere and real charm and is a great choice for a relaxing break.
