Today you begin your journey by boarding your flight to Fairbanks. Upon arrival, transfer to your downtown hotel. You’ll find a variety of activities to do in Fairbanks; you might explore the gold mining history of the region at one of the nearby gold dredges. Alternatively, at Pioneer Park you can visit the SS Nenana, a sternwheeler ship.
-
This morning transfer to Fairbanks station to board the Alaska Railroad for a scenic train journey to Denali National Park. The park is enormous — about the same size as the state of New Hampshire — and contains North America's highest mountain, Mount Denali. Take a guided transfer to your lodge, deep within the park’s wilderness, keeping your eyes peeled for wildlife. Upon arrival, settle into your snug wooden cabin and explore the lovely grounds.
-
Spend the day exploring the heart of Denali National Park. Your lodge offers a range of naturalist programs to choose from including guided hikes, a visit to Wonder Lake, cultural presentations by native Alaskans, mountain biking, fly-fishing, gold panning, and wildlife viewing.
-
Enjoy another full day to experience the activities available within the park. See mighty Mount Denali in all its glory and listen to the sounds of nature. You can opt to take a light aircraft flight over the park’s mountain peaks and vast untamed wilderness.
-
Enjoy a guided transfer to Denali Park Entrance where you board the Alaskan Railroad for the second leg of your train journey, to Anchorage. Sit back and relax as the Alaska wilderness rolls by out of the window. Read a book and chat to your fellow passengers — this is a delightful way to travel. Arrive in Anchorage for a one night stay.
-
Before departing, you may have time to visit some of Anchorage’s fascinating museums, such as the Alaska Native Heritage Center or the Anchorage Museum of History and Art. Both host an array of exhibits highlighting Alaska's history and diverse indigenous peoples. Make your way to the airport for your onward flight.
