This nine-day winter trip takes in British Columbia and the Yukon - two very different parts of Canada. Begin with a leisurely stay in Vancouver, perhaps visiting Grouse Mountain, eating at some of the many excellent cafes and restaurants, and ice skating in Robson Square. You then continue to Whistler, a hub for winter activities. As well as joining a snowshoeing tour through forest, you’ll travel by snowmobile to a cabin at 1,800 m (6,000 ft) for a fondue dinner, soar over Whistler Blackcomb in a helicopter, and go dog-sledding in the snowy backcountry. End your trip with a stay at a cosy wooden Yukon wilderness lodge to indulge in winter activities and for a chance to see the northern lights.

This morning, enjoy a panoramic bird’s eye view of Blackcomb Mountain on a helicopter flight, spotting the magnificent Cheakamus Glacier and soaring over Garibaldi Provincial Park. This afternoon, race along snowy trials in the Callaghan Valley backcountry with your own team of huskies on a dog-sledding experience. You’ll stop at an abandoned trappers camp on Totem Lake and learn about the history of Canadian fur trappers and how they used dog-sledding as one of their vital modes of transport.
A coach transfer this morning will take you back to Vancouver Airport, where you’ll board your flight north to Whitehorse. Upon arrival you’ll be transferred to Northern Lights Lodge, a delightfully comfortable and rustic wooden lodge an hour or so away from Whitehorse. The rest of the day can be spent exploring the vast surrounding Yukon landscape, relaxing in your log cabin, or enjoying a massage in the main lodge. Tonight, after dinner, keep watch for the northern lights.
