Spending your time in the high altiplano of South America’s Andes mountain range, this trip explores not only the astounding, arid backdrop littered with colourful lagoons, but the unique culture and traditions of the area. You will begin in the capital of Chile, flying up to the Atacama Desert and then travel by 4x4 into Bolivia towards the Uyuni salt flats. Then head east, where you will be able to notice the rapid changes in flora and fauna as you dive down into the lowlands. As you come into northern Argentina, you will visit the impressive Humahuaca gorge. End your time in the bustling Buenos Aires.

Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Santiago.

Day 2 Santiago

Santiago

Upon arrival, be greeted at the airport and taken to your hotel in the lovely area of Providencia. Enjoy a walking tour in the afternoon.

Day 3 San Pedro de Atacama

Santiago , Calama , San Pedro de Atacama

Fly to Calama and be transferred to your hotel in San Pedro, You can then begin to choose your activities for the next few days.

Day 4 San Pedro de Atacama

Activities today will have you out exploring the Atacama. You may find yourself taking in the lunar landscapes of Moon Valley, trekking through the Altiplano, or observing the stunning night sky.

Day 5 Hedionda Lagoon

Be picked up from your hotel and taken to the border. You will cross into Bolivia, passing through the stunning Eduardo Avaroa National Park, which is home to Laguna Colorada, Verde and the Dali desert. You will spend the night on the shores of Laguna Hedionda with pats of flamingos.

Day 6 Jirira

You will continue north today through the Altiplano, stopping at places such as the Rock Valley, Sioli desert and the tree rock. Cross over the salt flat to enjoy sunset at the camper.

Day 7 Jirira

At leisure with your guide today — you will be able to explore the salt flats and small village of Jirira with them.

Day 8 Tupiza

Transfer through the mountains to Tupiza. Spend the night in a basic hotel.

Day 9 Tilcara

Tupiza , Tilcara

Early start to head to the Argentine border. You will cross by foot and meet your Argentine guide there. Make your way to the impressive El Hornocal before spending the night in Tilcara.

Day 10 Purmamarca

Tilcara , Purmamarca

Be driven through Humahuaca Gorge to Purmamarca. You will have the day to explore this region which is rich in geological wonders.

Day 11 Salta and The Northwest

Purmamarca , Salta and The Northwest

Transfer to Salta. A guided walking tour will take you through this colonial city with it's imposing cathedral as well as churches and convents.

Day 12 Salta and The Northwest

Salta and The Northwest

Have a full day trip out along Route 40 through desert landscapes to San Antonio de los Cobres and the Salinas Grandes.

Day 13 Buenos Aires

Fly to Buenos Aires today and have the evening to yourselves. After traversing the northwest we recommend a relaxing night enjoying steak, empanadas, pasta, or any of the cuisine Argentina is famous for along with a bottle of wine.

Day 14 Buenos Aires

Enjoy a tour of the city which will have you taking in some of the city's most famous historical landmarks.

Be taken to the airport in time for your overnight flight home.
