This itinerary combines some of Costa Rica's better-known highlights with some hidden gems. The Pacuare Lodge, recently voted one of World's best eco lodges by National Geographic magazine, is a wonderful place to start as you arrive by white water raft and listen to the sounds of the jungle from your elegant cabin. Moving on to the Arenal Volcano region you will be able to try some of the activities that Costa Rica is most famous for, such as canopy zip lining, volcano hikes and soaking under the stars in one of the many hot springs. Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to San Jose.

Upon arrival in Costa Rica's capital city San Jose you will be met at the airport by an English-speaking guide and transferred privately to your hotel.

You will be collected from your San Jose hotel early this morning on a shared minibus transfer organised by the lodge and head east through the lush Turrialba Valley, stopping off for breakfast en route. For adventurous spirits, there is the option to spend the last hour of your journey rafting into Pacuare Lodge: a unique and romantic hideaway in the forest along one of Costa Rica's best white water rivers.

Today you'll be transferred privately down Manuel Antonio on the Central Pacific Coast, where the jungle meets the beach. The scenic and comfortable drive, which takes around five hours, runs for a while along the famous Pan-American Highway and through some jaw-dropping scenery!
