The Bougainvillea Resort is in Oistins on the lively south coast of Barbados, a short drive from both the international airport and the historic capital of Bridgetown. Although the resort is not completely isolated, it does offer seclusion with an ample stretch of white-sand beach where guests can take advantage of the host of water sports or relax on one of the loungers provided. In addition to beach activities, the resort has three pools, a well-equipped gym and a spa. Younger guests might enjoy the games room with table tennis, pool and games consoles — there’s also a kids' club and babysitting facilities, available at additional cost.

Rooms at Bougainvillea all offer either an ocean, pool or garden view with a furnished balcony or terrace. They’re decorated in a beach chic style with pastel tones, light wooden furnishings and are equipped with modern amenities plus a kitchenette — perfect for those with young children.

Rooms

Each of the resort’s 100 suites offers an ocean, pool or garden view with a furnished balcony or terrace. They are all tastefully decorated in a modern Caribbean beach style with a blend of pastel tones, light wood and rattan furniture. All the rooms at Bougainvillea feature fully equipped kitchenettes supplied with microwave, refrigerator and stove, though some of the smaller suites only have a two-burner stove top. All rooms have modern amenities including a flat-screen TV, Wi-Fi, in-room safe and air conditioning.

Location

Bougainvillea sits along a generous stretch of white sand beach in Oistins on the lively south coast of Barbados. It is just a 10-minute drive from the international airport and a few minutes’ drive from the bars and restaurants of Saint Laurence Gap. The capital, Bridgetown, is a 20-minute drive away for those wanting to delve into Barbados’s rich history.

Food and drink

Bougainvillea features two restaurants and a swim-up pool bar. The hotel’s signature restaurant, Calabash Café, is open daily for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, serving international dishes teamed with local flavours, weekly themed buffet evenings and ocean views. On the east side of the resort is Siam Bar and Restaurant, which serves Thai cuisine alongside cocktails in a beachfront setting.

Families

Children of all ages are welcome at the resort and those 15 and under stay free. Families can enjoy the three pools, a host of complimentary water sports and a well-stocked games room. There is a kids' club providing plenty of activities for children ages 3-12 at additional cost. Babysitting services are also available and can be arranged at reception with 24 hours’ notice. 

Facilities and activities

Bougainvillea has three pools: a lap pool for swimming, a waterfall pool ideal for children and a third with a swim-up bar that’s good for those wanting to relax with a cocktail. On the beach, the water sports hut is open daily and provides snorkelling equipment, kayaks, boogie boards and paddleboards. There is also a well-equipped gym and spa, offering a range of treatments.
