Copal Tree Lodge, Toledo District, Belize
Located just ten minutes from Punta Gorda in the Toledo District of Belize, Copal Tree Lodge is peacefully located surrounded by pristine rainforest set in a 50-square-kilometre reserve. There are just 12 air-conditioned beautifully decorated spacious suites with huge bathrooms. All have stunning views of the forest from the enclosed netted veranda in the room and are very private. There is a swimming pool and spa for relaxing after exploring the area, and a private tram that takes you on a ten-minute ride down to the side of the Rio Grande River at the bottom of the property. Complimentary use of mountain bikes and canoes are on offer.
You can spot a wide variety of bird and wildlife onsite with their expert guides and the lodge arranges a diverse range of excursions throughout the area from cultural excursions such as visiting Mayan ruins to snorkeling on the Snake cayes, chocolate tours, jungle tours, hiking on trails, night walks, river cruises, fishing and scuba diving. (Please note that most excursions have additional fees to be paid locally unless pre-booked.)
The food served in the restaurant is absolutely delicious. Breakfasts and lunches are generally buffet style, with dinner being a three-course gourmet affair.

Where possible, we like to offer a range of accommodation for each stop of your trip, chosen by our specialists as some of their favourite places to stay. To help you make the right choice, we give each property a rating based on its facilities and service, but we also look for hotels with distinct character or a location that can’t be bettered.
Experiences while staying here
The following activities are designed to give you the most authentic experiences of the area where you’re staying. We work with local guides, who use their knowledge and often a resident’s eye to show you the main sights and more out-of-the-way attractions. Our specialists can also suggest outdoor pursuits and activities, such as cooking classes, that will introduce you to the traditions of the area’s inhabitants.
Follow an experienced guide and plantation owner on a tour of a working organic cocoa farm, before visiting a traditional Belizean community located in a small village on the banks of the Moho river.
Visit a traditional Mayan musician and instrument maker, learn about the Crystal Skull and fascinating history of Lubaantun, and enjoy a swim beneath a cascading waterfall in the Rio Blanco National Park.
