Thank you for your enquiry on our 'ask the experts' page of our website for a weekend break in June.
As the majority of our destinations are long haul we tend to organise longer tailored itineraries rather than just four days away. However there is one exciting destination that might well appeal for a short break and that is the fascinating city of St Petersburg. This is a city we know very well and we would be delighted to design an exciting weekend break for you.
June is a wonderful time to visit Russia. St Petersburg in particular is full of history and culture, there is something for everyone and certainly enough to keep you busy over a long weekend.
Whilst we don't offer group tours here, we can offer a tailor-made itinerary which would combine time spent with a private local guide as well as plenty of time at leisure to explore under your own steam. Private guiding is perfect for sights such as the Hermitage and some of the city's wonderful imperial palaces. This would allow you to really take your time and explore the history and architecture of these places away from the crowds with a knowledgeable local to take care of the logistics, help you find your way around and bring the sights to life.
Whilst you'll need a private guide for some of the sights outside of the city, basing yourself in a central hotel would also allow you to explore at leisure and we can provide detailed sightseeing notes to help you do this along with a detailed language guide and restaurant recommendations. St Petersburg is a city which rewards independent exploration unlike any other and afternoons spent exploring some of its beautiful churches and cathedrals can be easily combined with walking tours of the city's architecture or other fascinating galleries.
June is also a great time to visit one of the city's theatres and we can arrange tickets for ballet, opera and musical performances before you depart. All in all it's a wonderful choice for an unusual but packed long weekend away.
