Camp Okuti

Camp Okuti

Moremi Wildlife Reserve, Botswana

The camp itself consists of just a handful of luxurious guest mosasa (reed houses), all of which are raised up on teak platforms and have private decks with lovely river views. The main camp also boasts a comfortable lounge area and small pool. Situated in one of Botswana’s prime game-viewing areas, guests are often treated to animal and bird sightings in the area around the camp. Fish eagles are common here, as are hippo, crocodile and other small water animals, which are easily visible from your room, the pool area and the jetty.

Guests can explore the wildlife-rich area from specially-designed safari vehicles, as well as from motorboats, and the open lagoons and winding waterways make this a paradise for birders.

OUR OPINION:

Okuti is the most intimate and interesting of the luxury camps in the Moremi Wildlife Reserve. The rooms are stylish and innovative, and the main lodge area offers a range of different places in which to sit and relax in comfort. Although the atmosphere around camp is always relaxed and informal, standards of service and food are extremely high.

Rooms

The mosasa reed houses are a beautiful design concept and offer a spacious retreat in which to relax. Most are twin-bedded doubles, each with their own en suite bathroom, indoor and outdoor shower, hot and cold running water and a flush toilet. There's also a honeymoon unit featuring a large double bed and additional bathtub, as well as a small number of family units, each of which boasts two good-sized bedrooms and a spacious family bathroom.

Location

Okuti is located in the heart of one of Botswana’s prime viewing areas, the Moremi Game Reserve. The camp lies alongside the Maunachira River and Xakanaxa Lagoon, which offer a consistently rich area for wildlife all year round.

Food and drink

Meals are served in the semi-open dining area, or boma, featuring a mixture of African and Western dishes. You can also choose to dine in a more private setting of your choice. The camp has a bar serving a good range of beverages, perfect for a sundowner after a day on safari.

Families

Okuti accepts children from seven years old and the two bedroom family units work well for family groups.

Facilities and activities

The camp offers both water and land-based activities. Game drives are in specially-designed safari vehicles, while the waterways and lagoons can be explored by motorboat.
