Hotel San Martin

Hotel San Martin is a popular choice for spending a couple of nights at the Iguacu Falls. Located outside of the town near the falls, exploration of the Brazilian national park is easy, and the clean, comfortable rooms make for a pleasant stay.

The hotel is situated outside of the city of Foz do Iguacu and rooms are set within the tropical forest, providing a tranquil retreat from the crowds of the falls and the bustle of the town. After taking in the impressive sight and sound of the falls, relax in the sauna or by the pool on the hotel's eighth floor terrace.

Rooms

Surrounded by beautiful, natural landscape, the hotel's rooms are simple but comfortable, offering a good range of amenities such as Wi-Fi, air conditioning, TVs, hairdryers and safes. The entry-level rooms come with either a double bed or twin beds, while the Suites offer more space with a seating area, as well as a whirlpool bath. Many of the rooms and suites boast ocean views from private balconies.

Location

The San Martin Hotel is situated about a 10 - 15 minute drive from Foz do Iguacu town, but is within easy walking distance (five minutes) of the entrance to Iguacu National Park. From here you can pay for your entrance, and the free shuttle bus takes you right up to the edge of the falls. This easy access to the falls is the San Martin's biggest plus point, as it removes travel time and expense in getting to the national park. It's also only as short journey from the airport at Foz, making it ideal for a couple of nights on the Brazilian side of the falls.

Food and drink

The on site restaurant, Taroba, serves breakfast and fairly pricey lunch and evening meals in a casual setting. A good alternative is to dine in one of the park's restaurants during the day and heading into Foz for dinner. The hotel's bar occasionally offers live music in the evening and serves snacks and light lunches.

Facilities and activities

Facilities on site include a swimming pool, a gym and a spa, as well as a tennis court, football pitch, adventure playground and a number of trails to explore in its grounds.

Accessibility

A number of the rooms here offer accessibility features such as grab bars in the bathroom, a shower seat and wheelchair accessible doors.

Our opinion

This value hotel option can't be beaten for its excellent location near to one of South America's biggest attractions; the spectacular Iguacu Falls. It's the only hotel within easy walking distance of the entrance, allowing you to explore it at your leisure. You can easily get a taxi into town for a choice of evening meals.
