Please note that bed linen is not changed for stays of less than five nights unless requested. Location

Ambleside Lodge B&B is located in the small town of Canmore, situated on the edge of Banff National Park. Canmore is a relatively quiet town in comparison to the more touristy town of Banff and offers a welcome retreat to guests looking for a more local experience.

Food and drink

Breakfasts are a feast here, with eggs Benedict, pancakes, fruit, muffins and croissants with scrambled eggs and smoked salmon all examples of what will be on offer to set you up for the day. You'll find places to eat in the nearby towns for lunch and dinner, and your hosts will be happy to make recommendations.

Facilities and activities

There are literally hundreds of hiking trails in the area, appealing to all levels of fitness. Hiking in the national and provincial parks is almost always on well-marked and maintained trails, with trail reports updated weekly to give current trail conditions, closures and other local information. The hiking season in the Rockies is relatively short, with many trails snowbound until mid-June.

Examples of a full day hike might be the Plain of Six Glaciers circuit at Lake Louise, a 14.5 kilometre hike or sunshine meadows — a beautiful alpine meadow at over 2,000 metres above sea level with over 12 kilometres of trails.

Meanwhile, the back yard at the lodge is home to a large sauna and a Jacuzzi, making it the perfect place to relax after a busy day of hiking.
