Le Village Windigo
Nestled in the Upper Laurentian Mountains, Le Village Windigo lies on the shore of Baskatong Lake. It is surrounded by gently rolling hills and dense forest and sits on the edge of a long, sandy bay.
Comfortable cottages and condos line the lakefront and spread through the forest providing high-quality rooms that come with separate living areas, smart bathrooms and fully-equipped kitchens. The decor combines rustic and modern elements and all rooms offer views of Baskatong Lake, Windigo Bay or the forest. Each unit has a whirlpool bath, wood-burning fireplace and all the conveniences of home such as a dishwasher, microwave and washer-dryer.
At the heart of the resort is a traditional log cabin that plays host to the homely, casual restaurant Les Berges du Windigo. Along with blackboard specials and a à la carte menu of traditional Québécois dishes, guests are also offered a five-course Menu Gastronomique.
Activities are the focus here with kayaks, pedal boats, canoes, bicycles and tennis courts free for guests to use. Hiking trails wind through the woods and boats with outboard motors and ATV vehicles are available for rent. The lodge also has a spa offering massages, wraps, herbal scrubs and other treatments.

The lodge offers a good choice of cottages and condos with rustic but modern decor featuring pale woods, large windows with sweeping views over the lake or forest, and tasteful, contemporary styling. The condos have a separate living area and bedroom as well as a fully-equipped kitchen. There's an open fireplace and a sofa bed in the living room and the bathroom has a whirlpool bath. The chalets are larger and have two, three or five bedrooms with en suite bathrooms. All room types have satellite TV, DVD player, air conditioning and kitchens with dishwasher, microwave and washer-dryer.
The lodge sits in a remote location on the shore of the vast Baskatong Reservoir by a large sandy bay. This is the heart of the Québécois Laurentians, a region of gently rolling hills, dense forests, and quaint towns and villages. It is a 226km (140 miles) north of Ottawa and 281km (175 miles) from Montréal.
Food and drink
Meals are served in the intimate Les Berges du Windigo restaurant which is set in a traditional log cabin where the stone fireplace and antlers on the walls contrast with the white linen tablecloths and array of wine glasses on each table. The restaurant overlooks the lake and guests can eat on the terrace in warm weather. The menu features a good choice of traditional French-Canadian dishes as well as blackboard specials.
The lodge makes a good option for families. Children under 12 stay free, condos have up to five bedrooms and there are plenty of child-friendly activities available.

The hotel sits on the lakefront and offers free use of its canoes, kayaks and peddle boats as well as bicycles and tennis courts. We like the versatility of this resort; its wide range of outdoor activities and sandy beach, combined with cosy chalets makes this the ideal getaway for an active family or anyone looking for adventure in the great outdoors.
