Look out for courageous ice climbers at the ancient Marble Canyon, before heading to Lake Louise for a spot of ice skating, snowshoeing, afternoon tea, or even a horse-drawn sleigh ride.
Frozen falls and ice bubbles tour
This tour is a chance to explore some of Alberta’s frozen landscapes, combing the double waterfalls at Crescent Falls with an afternoon spotting the ice bubbles of Abraham Lake. Your guide will provide you with ice cleats and you’ll embark on a gentle winter hike with some small inclines, leading you down into the canyon and walking along the frozen creek, before stopping for some hot chocolate, marshmallows and biscuits surrounded by the ice falls. The afternoon is spent on Abraham Lake, looking out for ice bubbles. Here you’ll walk out onto the lake to spot the bubbles that are created when the plant life in the lake releases methane that gets trapped under the frozen surface. You can stroll across the lake taking photos of the bubbles, with views that stretch for miles around.
