Cayena Beach Villa sits just outside Tayrona National Park on the shores of the Caribbean, with a backdrop of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta mountain range.
The hotel combines local character and tropical decor with a touch of luxury, and its well-designed open spaces include a pool, a yoga studio, and shaded hammocks on the beach.
The hotel is only a 15-minute drive from the entrance of Tayrona National Park and one hour from the small town of Minca. It's ideally situated for exploring Colombia's Caribbean coast, although it also offers lots of potential for relaxing on-site. There's an open-air restaurant by the pool which serves lunch and dinner daily, and it's also possible to dine privately on your balcony.
OUR OPINION:
We think that this lodge is ideal for anyone looking to relax in a tranquil setting. While it lacks some of the features of a five-star beachfront lodging, it makes up for this with its setting and warm service.

Rooms
The property has only 12 rooms in total, of which seven are located in the main house. The front house suites are spacious, with king-sized beds and air conditioning. The second and third floor rooms have private beach-facing balconies and views over the ocean. The back house is ideal for groups as each floor has a shared balcony facing the beach, as well as a gourmet kitchen and a private dining area on the second floor.
Location
The property is only a 15-minute drive from the entrance of Tayrona National Park and a 45-minute drive from the coastal city of Santa Marta. This makes it an excellent base for exploring Colombia's Caribbean coast when you're not enjoying the hotel's facilities or beachfront location.
Food and drink
There are usually two different meal options for lunch and dinner: orders are taken from guests earlier in the day. This is normal practice in the area. Beer, wine and spirits are available at the bar, as well as local fruit juices, coffee and tea. As dishes focus on local ingredients, choices can be limited, so please notify your specialist in advance if you have any dietary restrictions. The hotel sits next door to a boutique lodge with its own bar and restaurant, where you can, alternatively, purchase lunch.
