Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge
Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge, Corcovado & Osa Peninsula, Costa Rica
Nicuesa Rainforest Lodge is a 165-acre pristine reserve located on the Golfo Dulce within the lush rainforest of the 14,000 hectare Piedras Blancas National Park. Reachable only by boat, this is a beautiful place to experience nature and adventure sports for enthusiasts of all levels.
Cabins, guest rooms and the main house make up the lodge's accommodation, providing a perfect blend of rusticity and comfort. All cabins and rooms have private terraces to give panoramic views of the natural surroundings. Energy is supplied by solar power and the restaurant places emphasis on local cuisine - fresh fish, tropical fruits and vegetables.
There are an abundance of excursions to undertake from the lodge including nature trekking, kayaking, river tours, dolphin and coastal adventures, fishing, snorkelling, sailing, windsurfing and surfing. For those wishing to relax, a variety of yoga and massage sessions are offered.
Due to its location it is difficult to explore the actual Corcovado National Park from here but Piedras Blancas is equally stunning and lesser known. Lighting in the lodge and rooms is purposefully kept dim to avoid disturbing the wildlife and so as not to encourage insects - do take a good torch.
