Plaza Grande, Quito, Ecuador

Our rating: First Class

The Hotel Plaza Grande aims to become the jewel in the crown of Quito's luxury hotels and has been designed specifically for the most discerning guests. It is located in the heart of Quito's historic old town (a designated World Heritage site) on the corner of the Plaza Independencia, known as the Plaza Grande by the locals.

The building has Victorian touches and a classic feel with extensive use of fine dark woods in the specially designed furniture, wall-fixings, ceilings and floors. Each of the luxurious suites come with all the creature comforts and extra touches such as frette towels, anti-allergic pillows and fine Egyptian cotton sheets. They are all fitted with flat screen cable television, refrigerated private bar, sound-proof windows, air conditioning, in-room safe and high speed Internet connection.

The large bathrooms have a jacuzzi and under floor heating and room service is available 24 hours. The impressive grand dining room is La Belle Époque and overlooks the Plaza. It specializes in gourmet French cuisine. The Cafeteria Café Plaza Grande serves traditional local cuisine and at The Cloister Wine Bar guests can enjoy live music. The hotel also has a cognac and cigar bar, a champagne bar and health facilities - a small gym, sauna and massage room.
