Taveuni, formerly known as Somosomo, is the third-largest island in Fiji and is often thought to be the most beautiful. Volcanic in origin it rises along a backbone ridge to a height of more than 1,000 metres, with a high-altitude lake at its heart, pouring out water to the west.

Every characteristic of Fijian scenery is found on Taveuni, lush with tropical trees, fruits and vegetables, as well as some excellent beaches and superb diving opportunities.
