Château d'Audrieu

Château d’Audrieu

Bayeux, France

Once an 11th-century chateau belonging to William the Conqueror, who gifted it to his cook, and transformed in the 18th century into a much grander estate complete with manicured Renaissance-style gardens, Château d’Audrieu is steeped in history. It was commandeered by the Nazi SS as one of their headquarters during the Battle of Normandy. Medieval Bayeux is only a 20-minute drive away, and Omaha Beach approximately 30 minutes.

The spacious rooms at Château d’Audrieu exude classic elegance, many featuring vaulted ceilings, large windows, and original antique furniture. Decorated in rich earthy tones or calming hues of blue and gold, the rooms are a great spot to relax at the end of a busy day.

Serving fresh seasonal produce from the garden, the hotel's restaurant, Le Séran, has a wide-ranging menu offering everything from simple meals to gastronomic delights. You could enjoy a full meal in the restaurant, or perhaps peruse the extensive bar menu for a cocktail and some small bites.

OUR OPINION:

A landmark historic hotel, Château d’Audrieu exudes elegance and calm. We love this property for its heritage but also for its extensive grounds and inviting salons, which are inviting places to enjoy an apéritif by the fireplace.
