Itinerary idea in detail

With international flights from a choice of airports including London, Birmingham, Manchester, Newcastle, Edinburgh and Glasgow.

  • Today you begin your journey by boarding your international outbound flight to Keflavík. Then your family arrives in Reykjavík, you'll transfer by private car through scenic fjordland to Húsafell in west Iceland. En route, you'll visit the impressive Hraunfossar waterfall and stop at the Háafell Goat Farm. Here, you'll hear the history of this ancient breed and even get a chance to play with these friendly animals.

  • Begin your day at Víðgelmir lava cave: a huge cavern formed thousands of years ago by a volcanic eruption. The adventure continues this afternoon as you join a small-group guided tour to Langjökull glacier and venture inside, exploring its subterranean network of icy tunnels.

  • Your next stop is the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, where your private guide will take you to see seals basking lazily on Ytri Tunga beach, marvel at Kirkjufell mountain, and see the massive Snæfellsjökull glacier, which features in Jules Verne's Journey to the Centre of the Earth.

  • Journey south with your guide to the famed Golden Circle region. Here, your family will see the awesome powers of geology first-hand. Walk between the diverging tectonic places in Þingvellir National Park, see an erupting geyser at Geysir Geothermal Area and get up close to the thundering Gullfoss waterfall. You’ll also stop at Laugarvatn Fontana and see how they bake traditional Icelandic bread in the ground using nothing but geothermal energy. Of course, you will be able to taste the bread too.

  • Your focus today is Iceland’s rugged south coast. On your private tour, you’ll wander below the towering basalt columns of Reynisfjara Beach, walk behind the falls at Seljalandsfoss, and feel the spray of Skógafoss waterfall. You’ll also join a small-group horse riding tour along one of the area’s distinctive black sand beaches and learn more about the unique qualities of the stocky Icelandic horse.

  • Head to Iceland’s capital via the Reykjanes Peninsula: this craggy landscape is dotted with volcanic craters, steaming fumaroles and mossy lava fields. Discover bubbling mud pools and startlingly blue turquoise lakes with your guide, and explore this barren landscape used by NASA to train astronauts for Apollo missions to the moon. At the end of your tour, you’ll check into your hotel in Reykjavík.

  • Venture onto the water on a small-group whale-watching tour and see these gentle giants up close. If you’re visiting in the summer, you’ll also have the chance to see puffin colonies that come to nest on Iceland’s coast each year. You’ll have this afternoon at leisure to explore Reykjavík.

  • Enjoy a final morning at leisure in Reykjavík before taking a private transfer to Keflavík Airport in time for your onward flight. Your return flight will arrive the same day.
