InterContinental Bali Resort, Jimbaran, Indonesia
The InterContinental is blessed with an endless stretch of white sandy beachfront as its stunning backdrop and the resort itself integrates ornamental ponds, a winding lagoon and aesthetic stonework which give it a Balinese feel. The 418 room resort was designed to blend modern convenience with elements of traditional Balinese architecture. There is an obvious sensitivity towards the surrounding environment, whilst respecting the rich culture of the island, its fine artistry and Hindu heritage. A spa, fitness centre, yoga classes and tennis courts means that all guests are well catered for, in particular families.
Planet Trekkers is a dedicated children's centre that has been developed as a mini resort for younger visitors. It operates daily as a care facility catering specifically to children of two distinct age groups (4-7 years and 8-12 years) with tailored activities in a fun-filled, supervised environment. The facility itself encompasses a child-friendly space with an indoor air-conditioned club house as well as an outdoor swimming pool, climbing frame, mini basketball compound, table-hockey, and ample recreational space. Inside children can enjoy turtle workstations for arts and crafts, a cushioned reading corner and a plasma television. A purposely designed internet cave is also set up with four computers to access appropriate age-related websites.
Further activities include things like kite making, resort temple tours, pool game and shadow puppet making. For older children, the waters in Jimbaran Bay are generally very calm sheltered so good for endless hours in the sea with a body board. If the waves do get too big then there are six swimming pools to choose from.
